Some history on Eastlake. Source: knobs and handles pc dot com
"The Eastlake era and the Aesthetic Movement brought hardware design out of the flowy and sometimes overly complex Victorian design era and landed us in a place where nature was a key component. Key to an Eastlake design was the combination and blend of depictions of natural pieces and parts, and geometric elements. In one way or another, repeated geometrics that took elements of Greek, Native American, Egyptian, Japanese, Moorish, Celtic and many others and blended them into the hardware". These lock side cover plates qualifies as Eastlake era manufactured - design, size and cast iron, circa 1870 to 1875, based
on manufacturers
. Hopkins and Dickson as well as SARGENT (pix shown) advertised Eastlake designs 1870. Earliest manufacturers were Mallory & Wheeler and Branford but I cannot locate their very early catalogs.
