Description
Antique vintage Civil War era locking lid marked Patent Jan. 27, 1863 no. 7 cast iron gooseneck tea kettle with gate mark, rat tail ended bail handle & three small resting tabs in overall excellent cosmetic, used condition with no cracks/leaks, has a tapering 6¼" foot inset for kitchen wood or coal stove, and does have some age-appropriate metal roughness around the cut-out spout opening. Although there's no maker's stamp, research indicates the kettle was made by A. C. Barstow, Providence, RI. Height handle up is approx. 11". Longest measurement across is approx. 12½". As the kettle has not been cleaned by me, there is internal build-up, and normal oxidation for a kettle of this vintage. As no liquid was added to determine capacity, I won't guestimate as to how much this kettle holds. A great looking vintage CI kitchen or hearth item to add to your collection. Buyer pays FedEx ground or home delivery s/h/i, with free tracking. Due to across the board increases, a . handling fee has been added to this purchase. Although eBay shipping calculators are rarely 100% accurate, the max. domestic local & coast-to-coast s/h will be in the .64 to .23 range on this 11lb. pkg.
