READING HARDWARE #1700 1/2 L ENTRY MORTISE LOCK w/KEY - FULLY RESTORED - NICE!  (12247)
Vintage, circa 1880-1900: Salvaged READING HARDWARE (RHC) #1700 1/2 R entry mortise lock.   Comes with a new brass Security Guard cylinder and two keys.  Works perfectly!!  The lock number 1700 1/2 L is only visible in the casting on the inside of the box.
FACEPLATE:
Mortise lock has a large and heavy brass face plate with a length of 9 1/8" and a width of 1 3/16" and thickness of 1/8".
SCREWS:
Screws are on 8 1/4" centers.
BACKSET:
Backset (the distance from the front edge of the face plate to the center of the knob post hole is 3".
DROP:
The drop (the distance from the center of the knob post hole to the center of the round portion at the top of the key slot is 4 1/2".
KNOB POST or SHAFT:
The lock accommodates a standard 3/8" split swivel knob post.
BOX SIZE:
The mortise box itself is 3 15/16" deep from the front edge of the faceplate to the back edge of the box and it is 6 3/4" high, 9/16" thick.
REVERSIBILITY:
The lock is NOT reversible.
