    Description

    Original antique large thumb latch handle escutcheon plates marked on back Pat. Oct. 5, 1869.   Patented by F. W. Brocksieper assignor to Sargent & Co. New Haven who manufactured and sold  these latches.  H
    eavy cast bronze escutcheon plates as found missing the handles and different in appearance - one in original patina untouched and one polished through the years.  The thumb presses are original but different and representative of two thumb designs used by Sargent.  These latch handles were for thumb latch sets with bar sets for the inside of the door made in the same pattern.  Plates measure 10" x 2  1/4".   Purchase is for two matching pattern 1869 patent latch handle plates with thumb presses as pictured but missing handles.
